Ser-Ipa is a pre-mixed vial of sermorelin, a GHRH analogue, and ipamorelin, a selective ghrelin receptor agonist. No clinical trial has studied the blend.
Sermorelin is GRF(1-29)NH2, the first 29 amino acids of growth hormone-releasing hormone (Walker, 2006). Ipamorelin is a five-amino-acid peptide that Novo Nordisk described in 1998 as the first selective growth hormone secretagogue: in swine it released growth hormone without the ACTH and cortisol rise seen with GHRP-2 and GHRP-6 (Raun et al., 1998).
The two components have very different human records. Sermorelin was an FDA-approved drug. Ipamorelin’s published phase 2 trial, in bowel-surgery patients, found no significant difference from placebo on recovery of gut function (Beck et al., 2014). As of October 2026, ClinicalTrials.gov lists no registered trial of sermorelin combined with ipamorelin.
No FDA-approved product combines sermorelin and ipamorelin, and WADA’s 2026 Prohibited List bans both components at all times under section S2.2.4.
The FDA first approved sermorelin acetate in December 1990 as Geref (EMD Serono), which was discontinued in 2008; in 2013 the FDA determined it was not withdrawn for safety or effectiveness reasons (Federal Register). Ipamorelin has no FDA approval, and the FDA placed ipamorelin acetate in 503B compounding category 2 in September 2023 (FDA). WADA lists sermorelin among GHRH analogues and ipamorelin among growth hormone secretagogues (WADA).
A blend is two identity questions in one vial. Both peptides are small, both arrive as the same white powder, and a single purity figure for the vial cannot show whether each is present at its labelled amount. A useful certificate identifies sermorelin and ipamorelin separately and reports a measured quantity of each.
